December 1 to December 7, 2008
Jo-Anne Vandermeulen was born January 2, 1965 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada. Moving to Rocanville, in the same province (a town with about a thousand people), she graduated high school and spent four years at University of Saskatchewan receiving her Bachelor of Education; Majoring in English, Physical Education, Social Studies, and Mathematics. From 1987 to 2006, she taught Elementary School (kindergarten and grade five) back in her home territory. She spent a great deal of time coaching high school students, and participating in many different sports. (More recent involvement includes golf, curling and swimming.) Jo-Anne married her first husband in 1986. They were blessed with two daughters, born in 1989 and 1991. They divorced in 1999. She remarried in December 2005 to a wonderful man who totally supports her writing career. On April 28, 2006, Jo-Anne was diagnosed with a medical illness, forcing her out of the teaching community. She focused her attention on fulfilling a life-time dream...writing a book. In seventeen days, she completed the rough draft of her first manuscript, On Guard, a womens fiction: suspense/romance. Jo-Annes creative writing skills developed through twenty years of being a successful English Language Arts Teacher and the associated opportunity to attend a multitude of creative writing workshops as a member of two professional organizations. She belongs to organizations such as RWA, ACFW, ECFL, and the Romance Divas community. Also, she attends and actively participates in two local author clubs and many Internet workshops on the craft of writing. Jo-Anne has developed her skills and is ready for publication. Meanwhile, she has written a second manuscript entitled Between Two and continues to make revisions. Currently, she is learning how to create a platform by studying forms of marketing and promoting. She thoroughly enjoys meeting new people and exploring the different avenues of writing. For the past two and a half years, Jo-Anne has become a full time writer, giving her new experiences and exciting opportunities. She looks forward to the day when she sees her books on the shelves.
